Ezra Levant

Have you had a chance to follow Ezra Levant's arguments in front of the Human Rights Commission? For some reason, they allowed him to record the whole procedure, and this has supplied Mr. Levant with fodder for a pro-free speech rant which lasts, (get this! ) 90 minutes. He has posted about 20 minutes of his speech on his blog.....http://ezralevant.com/

I doubt that in the future the HRC will allow anyone to record their "interrogations". When that happens, we will have a star chamber in truth!

I don't like Ezra Levant....I think he is a conniving, manipulative man who just happens to publish a newspaper, and like all reporters who fancy themselves a member of a "profession", he is quick to use methods which some would regard as foul. On the other hand,I don't have to LIKE him to SUPPORT him! I think much of what he does is simply done to sell newspapers...something he has in common with a lot of other newspapers!

I deplore what you say, but I will fight to the death to defend your right to say it.

I humbly request any who read this blog to visit http://ezralevant.com/ and give him your suport. Or lambast him...grin!

Evil will flourish whenever good men do nothing.

Thanks for your very welcome comments. I have a Moslem friend who remind me recently that Islam has a long history of "getting along" with other faiths...sometimes to their eventual detriments as when they were expelled from Spain by Christians, or when the Turks spoiled a comfortable live-and-let-live arrangement in Malta when they decided to eliminate the Knights of St. John.
Even in the "holy land", and Jerusalem in particular, all faiths got along just fine until recently (like, what 1928? Thats pretty recent!)
So its not "Islam against the West", or "Islam against the Christians", Islam by and large just wants to get along, and everyone except Hollywood knows it. What we have here, is individuals who seek increased power by any means possible, and "let the chips fall where they may". Radical elements on both sides seem intent on stirring the pot of hatred....as they always have done....(Canadians helped Gordon hunt down the Mahdi in Egypt a hundred years ago, so this is not new!)
Radical elements are not confined to red faced preachers in mosques...they also exist in kitchens and back rooms in Vancover when they prepared, and succeeded to down a great airliner, they exist in born again prayer meeting where they collect money to send to support the "second coming", they exist in Irish pubs all over Canada as they raise money to support the IRA, and yes, they preach the nearly irresistable call to clerics the message that "you know, in other countries, clerics have political power as well", forgetting that in most of those countries, there is NO uncorrupt rule of law other than that of the mosque.
Sharia law is not welcome in Canada...it interfears with the fundamental rights and freedoms I fought for and upon which this country is founded. I do not welcome it, and I support Ezra Levant in his very conscious attempt to smoke out the fleas of radicalism which infest the body politic in Canada.

I remember Levant jumping ship during the last days of Stockwell Day's brief tenure as head of the Canadian Alliance. Some reporter asked if he had anything personal against Day, he said no. In fact, if nobody had started a Stockwell Day fan club, he'd start putting one together.

I wonder how that one worked out.

Wasn't Levant behind the petition to have Stockwell Day change his name to Doris Day, and got five or ten times the number of petition signatures that Day had for opening the abortion issue again?

(oh, and thanks m for dropping in.)
